I changed my pump out to a rio 800, and today i switched to a maxi jet 1200. I am still mo happy with the flow. This is in my 12 gal nano cube.
What pumps are everyone else using.

Heck i've run my 300 on 1 MJ1200 while i do maint onthe main Pump...
It blows water clear across 8 FT of my tank!!
It should be like wizard of oz in your tank with that thing!

I've got a maxi jet 900. What about the flow aren't you satisfied with? How are you putting it in your tank? That size should be pretty powerful, are you using any attachments?

I also use the 900..plenty of flow for me,but my back chambers are practically
empty otherwise. Are you still running all that ceramic rings, sponge and stuff that came with the tank?
Adding the surface skimmer helps as well IMO...it creates a drop from the surface down inside the plastic box and to the back chamber.{keeps the water in the front of the tank higher than what is in the back chambers}.

I am only using a Maxijet 900 in my 24 gal. Nano Cube. It seems to be just right for me. No problems yet. I do not mean to hijack, but Bob and Promise, do you guys do regular maintenance on your Maxijets? Mine has been running now for a little over two months and did not know how often I should take the pump out and clean the impeller. Have you guys ever done this?
:notsure:

Weel, i had just put it in the day i post this thread, and it didnt seam to be moving water very good. but it has been in there about a week now, and all seems well. I changed it out because i was getting red slime in the left front corner. It seems to be going away now. not as much in there. Thanks everyone

looking through everyones responses about pump trouble I realized I don't have a clue as to how to access my pump in my 12 gal nano. Everyone talking about pump changes makes me think some of my problem with algae and cyano could be related to poor circulation. How do I access and or change the pump? :notsure: :help:

Unplug the pump from the electric receptacle, grab the white elbow tube going into the flow nozzle in the 3rd chamber, pull it out towards the back wall. It is not in there very tight, then lift up on the pump by the green tubing. It will come out with the elbow and green tubing.

the nozzle on the main pump output can be upgraded with a hydor rotating flow deflector, very inexpensive on various aquarium supply websites, I have no complaints with it at all, works great, no slime problems, gets water moving even in the most hidden places you'd think would get stagnant.

The hydor cuts the flow of the pump.
Nanotwelve..make sure you reaattach the new pump securely...don't ask how I know this..
