When I pick up the rock to get a better look, it retracks a little bit. Not sure if it eats anything.
Any clue?

Yes, it looks like an Aiptasia. You should get rid of it asap. Do a search on the board, there are several good posts on how to get rid of them.

Ive heard that once you have one, its there for good and you will always have a problem.
There seems to be the only one so far. Think there will be more?
What is the most effective was of killing it forever?

I had some that I had a hard time getting rid of, until I bought a couple peppermint shrimp. Peppermint shrimp eat them.

Yes, you will get more, that is why you must get rid of it asap. The easiest methods are joe's juice or aptaisa-x(just follow directions) Also, if not to hard to remove rock it's on, you can boil it. Search threads for directions on this.

my friend told me that this is Aiptasia becuase I have the same thing BUT its form the Gulf and Atlantic and they are harmless. The Pacific Aiptasia is the one you want to get rid of. He owns a shop and is a moderator on a different reef forum so he does have credibility
