Not sure what type this is... but is it OK?

VERY new to all this. This piece of coral was given to us, we just started our tank and I'm wondering if it will be OK for the fish? Sorry the pic is so blurry - tank is still clearing up.

usually those corals have been treated with chemicals to make them appear so white. mainly... bleach.
I would get a giant pot on the stove and put it in boiling water for a good 20 min before introducing it to the tank. Thats just what I do :)
