Well tank finally made it to living room. Have it all set up and filled. I am now just waiting for it to all clear up and get up to temp. I have 4 inches of sand in most places, 5 in some and 3 or so in others. Do I need to get it to at least 4 in all areas. I have another 50 lbs laying here to put in if I need.

By the way how much shrimp should I put in to start the cycle (dead ones of course)?

from my understanding all you will need is 1-2 uncooked dead shrimp to get the tank cycling. good luck.

or you could start the set up of a refugium. otherwise i would just dump the sand into the tank. can't hurt can it?
