It's so damn hot around here. I need to get an air conditioner for the house or a chiller. Either way, I'm going to have to leave work and obtain one or the other before I head home. I have no clue where I'm going to find a decent window air conditioner this time of year so I may be stuck buying a chiller.
Fans on the sum. Lights on late at night. The damn thing just loves to stay at 86. Just got some nice rics home and have a feeling they'll be melting by 2pm tomorrow.
75 gallon tank. What chiller do you suggest?
No one seems to be for the chiller idea. God knows I'm not.

What types of lighting and pumps are you running? My tank also reached 86° over Labor Day when it was hot. I just floated ice in the sump and had a large window box fan blowing towards the tank, and kept the lights off. We finally turned the AC on though.
Whereabouts in Rochester are you located? The past two days have been brutal as far as heat. I think is going to get cooler though.

I also just had to buy a chiller this week , my new light are producing crazy heat I have a 215 gal. , and I got a 1/3 hp that is good for up to 300 gal. , a 1/4 is good for up to 225 gal. , a 1/10 is good for up to70 gal. , so I would think the 1/4 would be the way to go.....good luck !!

Depending on the make/model you could get away with a 1/10.
I was born and raised in Rochester. Greece to be exact. In the meantime cooling fan kits for the lights (can try a small desk fan) and some RO ice cubes will get you past the hot weather. Living there we all know it might just snow in a day or two.

Get some fans,I use 30mm computer fans, make sure to get good air over your sump where a lot of water is moving through. In addition I fill a lot of small empty water bottles and freeze them. When the temp starts to climb I will place a couple in my sump pulling them out and replacing once they have melted. Throw a couple into your sump before you leave for work and replace them when u get home. Continue to replace them all evening so the temp is low enough that you can control it the next day. I have t-5s so they dont get nearly as hot as MH but its a good temporary solution for some.
