hi,
i have the nova extreme fixture and i was wondering if i could improve the light efficiency by getting different bulbs or making individual reflectors? also, where do you get polished aluminum or the reflector kits for the nova extreme?
thanks

If you are using Current lamps changing them will help a lot, especially the blues, they have pathetic output compared to Giesemann and ATI's blue lamps.

If you go to google and type in aqua then cave and click on the first link then go to the section for lighting, t-5, DIY parts there are some reflectors that might work.

I have the 8 lamp nova extreme and a tec 4 lamp fixture on 2 different tanks and there is no comparison get individual reflectors, but ice cap and tec reflectors wont fit into a nova. You can get reflectors google tec or ice cap and build a canopy from the parts from your nova

There isn't room to place individule reflectors in the Nova light. The smallest one available right now is the Ice Cap which is 2 1/2" wide. Sunlight supply does sell a replacement reflector for the Tek light which might work. It is a formed single reflector that provides a parabolic reflector for each individual lamp. You need to measure the lamp spacing in the Tek and Nova fixtures to see if the spacing is the same or at least within a fraction. If thats the case it might be worth a shot.

ANyone done this or seen a thread somewhere of either someone taking a nova extreme apart and doing a retro with it or replacing the reflector?

The smallest ive been able to find are 2" and it looks like you would need 1" ones to fit inside the nova extreme......i"m still looking because i love the extreme fixture but it doesnt measure up to my nova pro......
