Ok boys and girls I posted a pic of this piece of throw away rock I got at my LFS for $3.00 about six months ago it turned out to be a pagoda Cup but today six months later it started sprouting this, they are deep purple with a light blue florissant line in the center sorry about the pic but can anyone identify them for me

once again you guys are right on the money i just googled this John Rice suggests the Emerald Green Crab (Mithrax sculptus) as a good natural herbivore choice to help keep bubble algae cropped in an aquarium. In Terry Siegel's Outer Reef Limits Algae Woes article (From the Aquarium Frontiers Archive), Terry discusses the use of Emerald Crabs with great success. This article is an excellent resource to learn more about Bubble algae, and includes mention of other common problem hair algae like the Bryopsis, Derbesia and Cladophora species.
ok where do i get emerald crabs

They sell emeralds at Boardroom for $5. Some claim that they eat their bubble algae but others claim that they don't. I had some bubble algae that I was able to pluck out pretty easily. I was told to be careful not to pop them as this would cause spores to spread and increase the likelihood of more bubble algea popping up. Well I popped a few and have not seen any more in my tank. It's been about 2 months and I don't run carbon or anything so I don't know if that's a myth or not.

LOL its called pickling lime usually sold at any grocery store I by mine at krogers for about 3$ a can. mix it just fluid enough to be able to be sucked up into a syrenge and inject each bubble or apistia. it kills almost instantly. its also the same thing as kalkwasser powder just awhole lot cheaper.
