Now what????

Ok, another question.
I recently replaced my RIO 32 with a MAG 18 pump. After a few days of running the MAG 18, i noticed that my protein skimmer (RIO 2100 pump) was not pulling anything out of the water. When the RIO 32 was working, the skimmer was fine. So I turn the MAG 18 off and what do you know, the protein skimmer starts pulling the junk out of the water. I though it might be a electrical issue, (return pump and skimmer pump on same power strip) so I plugged the MAG 18 into anther outlet (by itself) and the same issue occurs. When the MAG 18 is on the skimmer doesnt work. Any ideas???? Thanks

The RIO was 1920 GPH and the MAG 18 is 1800GPH.
Blackjacktang, you mentioned power. I tried plugging into a seperate outlet all on its own and still the same issue. I will try plugging it into a seperate circuit not just a seperate outlet.

ok then the problem is most likely not enough GPH, you might want to switch back to the other pump or use another with the same GPH

I'm curious.....Never seen this....you said you tried a different power strip, but are those power strips on the same circuit?

acrylic51, they were on the same circuit. When I get home tonight I am going to try plugging into a seperate circuit.

Could it be that the mag 18 is making a vortice that is affecting the skimmer pump, maybe try to move the Mag 18 or put a baffle between them. Strong water currents can affect pump intakes.

acrylic51, see the pic above. They are on opposite sides of sump. Maybe the vaccum line is clogged up???

Didn't you say they work fine when only one of them is running. Move them around a bit put something between them and try
