Nuissance algae?

I noticed I now have a "colony" of these short brown stems with feathery ends all over a piece of my live rock. They keep multiplying. They retract when the fish swim over them.
What do I need to do about this?

Sound like Hydroids.

... now to get rid of them

well, I didn't need to get rid of the hydroids ... cause my tang did it for me!
Oddly enough all hydroids are gone since adding my tang
