number of fish 125 gal can support

I have a 125 gal tank that has been set up for 5 months. One new guinea puffer, one porupine puffer and an angelfish. I.m getting a new fish each month. How many fish can my tank support. I filtering system is wet/trickle big enough to run a 250 gal tank. Thanks, Gretchen

Rule of thumb is 1" of fish per 5 gallons of water. This is due to bioload. Overcrowding leads to tank crashes. HTH

people have differing views on this. everyone should look to how big their fish will get and how good is your filtration. i have about 400 gallons of filtration on my 240

Rule of thumb varies depending on who you ask but when figuring remember to use the size of adult fish you are getting. You may be ok with them as juviniles but as they grow it may be to much for the bio to handle.
