Obama Follow Up: Trayvon and Race Issues in America

I have never, in my entire life seen someone more in love with the sound of their own voice than 0bama. Good lord, he could have said more in 5 minutes if he could put together a string of coherent thoughts without a teleprompter.
Stand your ground laws are a good thing. In the case of Zimmerman if it could have been shown he did something to contribute to the confrontation he couldn't and didn't use that as a defense. In this case they worked perfectly. What the law really does is make it so someone who lawfully uses their gun in a clear case of self defense doesn't have to lawyer up and go to trial. It doesn't change the standard for self defense.

I gotta call BS here. I can't think of any old white ladies that I know that would be that scared of obama enough to lock their car doors if he were to walk by. However, I do feel the need to lock up my guns when ever I see his face on t.v.
Is he trying to say that only black people grow up facing adverse conditions?
He was right about one thing though. People should be taking a harder look at the positive racial progress that has been made over the last 50-60 years.

Let that clown grow up white in the barrio section of Santa Ana California and tell me whites don't know what it's like to be targeted because of their race.

Very likely his comments about this are true in some situations, and certainly a long time ago. However, as a woman, if this is what black men think now, they may be surprised to know that women just do that no matter who walks by. Speaking as a woman, we have a vulnerability that men do not have, and we are more cautious about car jackings, purse rip-offs, getting caught unaware in parking lots, etc.
Trust me, its not just aimed at black men.

Just heard Zimmerman is changing his name. From now on he will be known as Ben Ghazi so 0bama and the media will never mention him again

Or growing up white in and along the border of, Detroit. Anybody ever seen 8 mile? lol I guarantee you that the black kids in the burbs faced far less harassment for their color than I have.
I actually haven't hardly experienced any of that in your face type of racism down here being in a predominantly hispanic community that I had back there.

I have no doubt there is some truth to what he was saying, even to do this day I know it's still there. But we need to be honest with ourselves here. There are more dangerous places to be in sometimes than others. I don't feel terribly safe when my wife has to go out somewhere and night and I'm not with her. Not because I'm a insanely jealous person and that I don't trust her...but because there is crime out there in the streets at night and there isn't a single city or town around this country that is completely free of crime. And being a victim of a brutal rap when she was a teen she understands this all too well. Crazy people come in all shapes and sizes.
I tell her to lock the doors no matter where she goes. Period!!!

Why is it every major piece of national news that involves an african american Our President feels the need to comment on and publicize about? Race relations in this country in general are better than they ever have been. Not everything is about race. The race issues are only issues because the media and adults make them thus. Sure in the rare instance racism rears it's ugly head. But this trial was never about race. Neither the prosecution nor the defense ever raised the issue of race as a motive of potential possibility. That was the media. So the President making this trial about race is another example of his incompetance and flawed view points.
Iam curious, if we as a nation stopped referring to people by race would racism be as prolific in our society. Children under the age of 6 do not describe other children by race unless taught to. What does this tell you concerning race?

I think his comments clarify for me that African-American people still harbor a lot of baggage and even suspicion about white people. The whole what happens when a black person walks by a car, or walks down the street, etc. From my own perspective, and I'm only one white woman, those perspectives that he describes just is not the case for me.
Now there are certain things that may make me uneasy, such as anybody dressed in black and clocked in a hoodie when its 90 degrees outside. If I saw a white guy with a ski mask on, I'd get nervous as heck, unless I was on the slopes.
Everybody, including Af.-Americans, have their fears and their bias.
