ocean Sand

I have a 125 with 40lbs CC; 20lbs live aragonite; Im still setting up(slowly but surley; got tank almost given to me, it will take time & money to do what i want)can I use sand from the ocean? Im going to Clrwtr soon and they have beautiful beaches full of sand. i was told that might not be a good idea. I figure if Im gonna cycle anyway anything bad will hopefully die. I found a live sand guy on ---- but they're getting it out of the ocean( they have 100% feedback). I was told if I get it to dry it out before i use it.

Ok a few things that you should know before you go out and get sand from the ocean. Make sure that the ocean that you get it from looks clean and isnt poluted and that it is in the tropical area. If you get sand from a part of the ocean that looks like it has radioactive waste in it, it would be a good ideo to stay away from that area. Also, you should QT the sand for about a month to make that you dont pollute your tank with any hitch hikers.

Would the hitchers die off during the cycle? I was thinking of the gulf .Clearwater area. Sand is white and water is clear.
