Oceanic Light Question

Hi again,
For my new 55gal. fowlr tank, I bought a 48" Oceanic hood light.
Towards the end of the power cord is a power box of some kind. When the light is plugged in, this box gets very warm. Is this normal?

Mine has/does the same thing... i hope its normal...

that there power box as you call it is the ballast. yes it will get warm.

Thanks for the feedback. I received an email from Oceanic's customer service, they said the ballast is designed to reach 160 degrees! Doesn't sound too safe...
