ocellaris question

I just bought 2 juvenile ocellaris clownfish today. What are the chances they will go in to my purple bubbletip after coming out of quarantine? Will they even know what an anemone is since they are tank raised clowns?
Thanks,
fishlovr

Possibly but I'd like to see a pic of your purple bubble tip anemone if possible

I just took this pic a few minutes ago......it was shot into a dark tank so the anemone is not expanded right now. It is was sold to me as a purple bta by a fellow hobbyist who had his own store for a while. It is in the red/maroon family......just the darker end of the scale. Don't worry, it wasn't dyed:) I'll take another one after the lights have been on. It is a lighter shade when expanded.....

The person I got it from moved out of state. Don't know where he ordered it from. It split once after I first got it (a year ago)and I gave the clone away......I could let you know if it splits again........

Just my opinion but I don't see a BTA :notsure:
Try Macrodactyla doreensis, and a very nice colored one too.

Hey let me know if it splits again too. I will take a clone if you get another one after that.
As for the ocellaris, mine just started to host my BTA. Had the clown for a little over 3 months. Had the BTAs for about 6-8 weeks (1 reddish brown about 6" across from swf.com, 2 rose about 1-2" each that I got for $25 ea from an lfs).
I read in another post about posting pictures on the side of the tank showing clowns in anemones. I did this for about a week. Then I took them down so I could see inside that side fo the tank. Well it is about 3 weeks later and I noticed that one of the 3 have now started diving into it a couple of days ago. Before that it look like it was started to host my xenia. But now it seems to have taken to the brown bta. So maybe there is some truth to the pictures.
But just for the record, ocellaris do not host them in the wild. So it may take a while for them to take to the bta.
Oh and BTW my clowns are tank raised too. Or at least that is what they told me and and they were priced as if they were tanked raised. But I don't trust those lackeys at that lfs (different one that the one from which I got the rose btas.)

I may have to try the picture route if they show no interest......amazing that it can work:) I know they sometimes tape a picture of a bird to the cage of one who has lost it's mate to help it grieve......smarter than we think! Anyway if my BTA splits again I'll keep you both in mind. Here's a daytime pic of the whole tank so you can see the color and size proportionaltely......it's a 55 gallon with T-5 lighting.
