octopus 100 or 100s

thinking of getting this next week to replace the octopus 1000 (external pump version). i was looking at the pictures online. my question is will fish get suck in by the pump? since it has no screen to block the intake?

Are you unhappy with the 1000? Sorry I can't answer your question about the 100. The 100SS has a surface skimmer so that should eliminate the "stuck fish" problem.

was happy until it started leaking last nite. the airtube somehow came loose from the external pump. i tried to put the airtube back in, but couldnt do it.

I have been concerned about that happening on that model. That is the primary reason I don't promote it. If you don't want the pump in the tank look at the 100F. I do own that one and like it on a small tank. However, the ones you are looking at would be easier to clean the pump.
Some people don't like the surface skimmer on the 100F and 100SS but I do. If you don't like it you can add a strainer from a powerhead. They fit in the suction tube.
BTW, I just looked up your original thread on this skimmer and noticed you are using it on a 150. I would give serious consideration to the 800S or even the 300F.

i know it isnt really enough, but its a fowlr tank with over 200lbs of lr. i am also running a remora pro on it.
