I purchased the Octopus 3000 about 3 months ago. It sounded like a great product that could do lots of things (ie wavemaker, light timer, ph monitor etc...). Well I'm here to report it does in fact do a lot of the things promised very well. HOWEVER, it won't control a heavy load item like a 250w MH ballast. When the ballast turns off, it sends a spike through the line that confuses the x-10 module. I spoke to the manufacturer and their solution didn't work. When I called back thier answer was "well we don't make the actual x-10 module, and besides they're not designed for heavy load items". Well you can imagine my joy at this response. You market a product to the aquarium hobby, where you know high load items (ballasts, chillers, etc...) are very common and you also know it won't work with these items. I tried a special electrical filter to no avail. I just thought I would share my experience in case anyone else was considering this product.
