Octos are predators, they will eat other fish and crustaceans/mollusks. They need to be kept in species only tanks. Bo

Okay, you can keep Coral. Octopi do not eat coral. As far as fish go, it has to be something that is extremely fast or unappetizing. Fast is unadvised; it will just be stressed by the octo trying to catch it over and over. For unappetizing, I think you can keep certain boxfish and scorpionfish with octopi, but that's about it.

You can't keep fish with octos guys, especially boxfish. Boxfish will release a deadly toxin of slime when in danger, decimating the entire tank. Octos should be kept in SPECIES ONLY tanks. Bo

No blutang, I wasn't getting heated. I've lost my cool twice and this board, and trust me that wasn't one of them. I just get frustrated when people don't listen to advice, that's all. Bo

I know man, I was just joking, I can definitey understand your pain....I've had to unload on someone wanting to keep a "medium" size Powder Blue in a 35 gallon tank......don't think I was being smart I was just kidding around.

I got it here in Casper. I just bought a 120 gallon in Denver for $100 had to drive 5 hours to get it and 5 hours back. we do go down there from time to time to get fish though.
I do appreciate the advice that all of you are giving me. Im new to the salt world but not new to fish!!!! I have lots of tanks and love fish.
the octopus is in his own tank 30 gallon. and the lid is clamped on. the only place he could get out is by the filter and Im working on that.
as for the panther I looked again and her is only about 8 in long but we are looking for a bigger tank for him, I love big fish the bigger the better.

Ok, not boxfish... But I know that you can keep some scorpionfish with octopi. I based the boxfish thought on the fact that an octopus may not try to attack something it 'knows' to be poisonous. If it is one of the tiny ones that only grow to 1.5-2 inches max then you can probably keep something like a parrotfish, butterflyfish, or certain individuals of the surgeonfish family. Large angels may also be acceptable.

I would stay away from any types of fish and let the octo feed on some feeder minnows from time to time.
