Whats your guys opinions on the Reef Octopus DDNW 150 Dual recirculating skimmer. It's rated to 350 Gallons, I found a great deal on one and I think it will be the first piece of equipment I get for the 125.

Way overkill...it would never be able to perform to it's peak. Check out the Super Reef Octo 2000xp. That's what I'm going with for my 120G. It's rated for 185G with an avererage bio load which is better suited for tanks of this size than the DDNW 150. You'd be wasting your money...efficiency is what you should be after.

Understandably so! The DNWB 150 doesn't look too bad either. That one has the funnel neck design.

Well the skimmer comes with two of those pumps already, they are the recirculating pumps...are you saying that he's been using the same type of pump to feed the skimmer as well?

that's what his add says he said he had to empty the cup twice a week because it was full of thick black skimmate. Is it bad that he used the same size pump?

Well I only ask because those types of skimmers require a feed pump that is 1.5x the size of your system per hour. I was just currious to see what size pump he was using to feed the skimmer. Since it's an external skimmer you will need a pump to run it other than the two recirculating pumps that already come with it.

That's your call bud! I would ask the guy some more questions though. Make sure that it has both recirculating pumps. Just remember that these aren't in-sump skimmers so you will need to purchase another pump in order to run it. But 200 doesn't sound like a bad deal if it's in good working condition.
