Octopus Diablo 2500 skimmer questions

Hey all.
I know what your thinking. No, I'm not ditching scrubbers. Lol. I believe in redundancy in aquarium filtration. Anyways,....
Im looking at this skimmer for a 20g long sump. Because its compact design, I'm thinking it should work pretty well for a cone skimmer, right? Not much room in a 20g long sump, and the $300 price tag doesn't look too bad for a skimmer rated for a 180g to 240g tank.
The other question I have, albeit a stupid one, would it be ok to let it run temporarily on a 20g high display tank until I can get a bigger tank? I think I can manage any salinity changes pretty well, if any. I've never aggressively over skimmed that much before, I was wondering if there were any drawbacks (the dt is an SPS dominated tank.)
Thanks.

Good skimmer choice, but way overkill.......The skimmer might; might not skim like it should, being its way over sized, and that is a know issue with skimmers....They don't perform at their peak or efficient when when over the recommended capacity.......

but I fell in love with this skimmer!!!
I tell yah what, I guess I'll use just a scrubber on my tank for now until I upgrade to a larger tank... I'm thinking a 90g, with the stand that I have. I guess I'll buy that skimmer after I upgrade to the 90g?? It wouldn't be overskimming that much in a 90g SPS tank, would it??

A skimmer rated for 180 to 240 gallons on a 90 gallon is still over kill.....Maybe if it was rated for a 120-150 gallon, but your talking way inefficient IMHO!!!!!!

lol, Thanks Acrylic. You always seem to manage to bring me back down to Earth. lol
I'll just look into the other smaller octopus skimmers for now.
Thanks again.

Sorry Seth!!!!! They are very nice skimmers, but it comes down to efficiency. I don't believe whole heartedly that you could/can over skim a tank, but in the same token doesn't mean an oversized skimmer will be adequate. Meaning its possible it won't perform as it should, plus your talking bigger; more power hungry pumps at times as well.

Yeah. ok. I'm now looking at an octo 1000x or something like that. It's for a 125g tank. I don't think it would overskim on my small tank too bad until I can upgrade to a 75g in the near future.
