Ok. I am currently still building a 54g corner reef.
So I ordered an Octopus NWB-110 In-Sump skimmer that I was planning to place in one of the 3 sections of my 10g DIY Fuge/Sump [Skimmer ||| Return ||| Fuge]. Space is very limited in my stand, so an in-sump skimmer seemed like a requirement.
However, what I received was an Octopus DNWB-110 Recirculating External Skimmer
. Now, normally this would be a good thing as the DNWB is rated higher than the NWB and costs a fair bit more... around $60 more. Unfortunately, it is larger than the NWB and is (according to the supplied manual) for external use only and I do not have a lot of room to spare in my stand
.
The 10g fuge along with this external skimmer would essentially take up ALL the room in my stand.
So, is it worth the trouble to plumb this skimmer to my sump and use up all the space in my stand, or should I return it for the in-sump version?
I also worry about leaks and overflowing the skimmer if it is external as this tank will be in my living room and we have nice hardwood floors.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
