Oddysea Fixtures

My question is peoples experience with Odyssea Light Fixtures?
I have read many threads where they swear they burn your house down! Yet again these threads were about 5 years old. Some say they have redesigned theri ballast? Some say their getting better?
I purchased a 36-watt 20" PC and it looks good, but have my webcam point it at it and i can view it here at work just in case. Has anyone bought one withing the last year?
What about their MH fixtures? Are the new one's better quality?

LOL! I don't know about burn the house down unless you have the fixture in a wood canopy. If you have it properly installed I wouldn't lose sleep over it. I find it hard to believe they could be any worse than what they were selling a few years ago. I've heard a few people who seemed credible say they have improved them but I have no personal experience.

I have had a 4 lamp odyssea fixture with two ballasts for two years now and I have had no trouble at all. I can hold the ballasts in my hand and it is not even that warm. I have heard the bad stuff about them, but that may have been a long time ago. I plan on getting one with MH , so i'm not concerned about a fire. Just like anything we use in our hobby, there is a certain amount of risk. Just follow the safety instructions and use common sense.
