Is this a good unit and is $99 a good price with shipping included? I want it for my 80 gallon tank and I wanted to start adding corals( tank is three years old)

Is it the 2006 model? If so, i have the same one, and i paid $140 shipped
But, you are probably going to get people on here that will say its just horrible, but then you will have people like me that have actually used it for 6 months, and think it is well worth the money....plus its so much cheaper! The only downfall to it, IMO, is that it gives off alot of heat
But IMO, its worth it...i have it over my 75 gal.

Yeah mine has two fans, and 3 on/off switches. No, i dont use a chiller b/c i cant afford the $$$!! But i just leave my heater turned to 60 so it doesnt come on. My tank stays at about 81-82...i know, a little warm, but its okay!

Is it quite? How do you have it set up? I have a glass cover and I wanted to keep it and have the lights directly on the glass.

I bought the legs so it stands over my glass top. Its kinda on the noisy side, but i think it is still worth it.

it is an awesome light....I have had mine for over a year now and it is great. I have mine on the mounting legs on a 72 gal bow and it does not get hot at all. mine is the older model and it is still perfect. I know alot of people say that they are junk , but I have three friends who all of us have them and the mh versions and they are all still just fine. BUY IT

I have the same tank from All Glass. Do you leave the glass cover on?

yes i did leave the glass on for a while...just recently took it off cause I got tired of cleaning it. On or off. heat was not an issue
the mounting legs lift the light up about 5 inches off of the tank, so I would say it would have to help with heat buildup.
also I have not changed the bulbs yet...right at a year and still going strong

I think you would get a better spread of the light 2 22inch bulbs would cover more area than one 36 inch bulb. You can keep soft corals with this lighting .

for my 55gal I have the ODYSSEA 48" 520watt Aquarium Power Compact Light+ Lunar. 4 bulbs... 2 true attinics and 2 10K bulbs. I love the system.. Each bulb is 44in long. I forgot what I payed for it. But I believe it was $200 and something low.
