hello fellow aqua-people! my new 150G is in the grand algae phase. now, around 40G of this water (which im sure is less that that now due to water changes/evaporation...etc) was from my 55G tank. haven't had any ammonia problems yet. last monday i noticed a few spots of algae popping up. i thought "yay! its cycling!" its not covering all of the glass, but enough to notice. BUT, my Lawnmower Blenny is doing a good job at clearing a very good portion of it up. the side glass is the main area of what i assume to be hair algae. and you can tell exactly where the light hits the different parts of the glass. thats where the diatoms are at the highest concentration.
i have some snails in there but they seem more interested in the rocks still...i have also been using the Brightwell Aquatic Liquid Reef product to get my coralline algae going on the glass and rocks. my old 55 was pretty much covered with it. my LFS uses all Brightwell Aquatic products, so thats the salt i use as well.
question is this: should i let my Lawnmower Blenny take care of the algae and get fat or is there a way to intice the snails to go up on the glass more often? and would it be "safe" to put another LB in there? i tried 2 in the 55 but the bigger one killed the smaller one almost right away.

Well I sort of land on the lazy mans side of things and would let it run its course for now. See if the sails you have are eating the algae you don't want. Then add some here or there. I would not put two LB in to much put to chance.

i scrapped some off earlier today just cause my dad was bugging me that "people can't see in it"...i tried to tell him it was cycling and there isn't a whole lot i can do but i scrapped most of the front just to keep him happy and so i can monitor when i start to see coralline growth on the glass and more on the rocks. i have quite a bit on the rocks right now. i know i can get it spreading by using a cleaned tooth brush and scrubbing the coralline on the rock right by a powerhead. but i have the liquid reef stuff so i might as well use it. or do both. lol.

Proper cal ium levels is what helps coraline to grow...never dose what haven't tested for. Too much calcium and it won't grow either. Cal should be between 400 and 450
