Ok I am new to the hobby and have purchased a snowflake ele (I named him George). I then purchases a sea urchin and that is where all the truble started. The spikes on the sea urchin are falling off. I don't know what to do is that normal or is he sick or is George eating him? The spikes are all in the bottom of my tank so if George is picking on him he isn't interested in the spikes on the bottom of the tank. I hope someone can shed some light on the situation. I hope my sea urchin is ok.
Any info would be helpfull thanks

I need to know more about your tank...age, SPECIFIC WATER PARAMETERS...and most importantly how long you acclimated the urchin.
It is suffering from osmotic (acclimation) shock. Most likely your acclimation time was too short, and your tank may be too young (or water parameters not ideal - especially specific gravity should be 1.025-1.026 for these animals). It is not a good sign that it is losing spines...he is very sick.

without knowing exact age of the tank but being a new set up i would most likely have to guess your tank is not mature enough for such inverts yet lack of good algae growth in your tank.balence of bacterias ect id also have to say the sheddiing of all spines id not a good sign.correct me if im wrong dont urchins also eat coraline algae?
