I got Babiesssssss
ok, I have my male in a home made breeder net. its about 10x10 sitting in the middle of my tank. I fed him tonight, go over to scoop out the exras, dump them on the main tank for the gobie to clean up, look, and its BABIES. There are 5 right now. Are these warning babies?? Should I expect a net full by morning??
what is the best way to get them from the main tank to the fry tank?? can I use my brine shrimp net or should I use a cup??

YAY! Congrats! I would get them out with a cup. I have always read to never use any kind of net with seahorses due to there body armor. It,their little snouts and their fragile little fins can get stuck.
I'm so excited for you!!!!
Have you raised SH fry before? Please post pics when you can.

I have a 20 gal fry tank set up. It has two sponge filters with air lines and hitches.

or do you mean if I can raise them to juvi stage. I know I will keep at least two for my self. I dont expect to get all of them raised, I know I will loose most if not all this first time round. I will be happy to get one or two to live.

Hi Teresa,
I was just wondering what kind of horses these are? The little ones from the brood that mine had (kuda) didn't hitch at all.
Thank you!

I knew you had your fry tank set up from previous posts....I meant what are you going to do with them when they grow up? You seem pretty prepared for them, why do you think you will lose so many?

I may be prepared, but have no clue what I am doing hehehe. Just reading soo many post about raising fry, I dont see many raise more then just a few - especially on a first try.

Oh my goodness - I have been so busy this week I've fallen behind on this board and missed your seahorse having babies!!!! Congratulation - I am so excited for you!
What always amazes me is how you're all able to actually get a headcount on these things. The first (and only) batch of fry I had, there was no way I could count them. I tried telling them all to stand still but they never listened.

Keep us posted - I will be anxiously following this thread and living vicariously through you and hopefully learning a lot. It's good that you're going in with the attitude that none may survive - all you can be is pleasantly surprised!
Hurray for you!!!!

the only way I got a good count was, as i dipped them out of the breeder net in a small cup, I counted how many were in there then added them to the fry tank.
So far all are doing well
Thanks
