My starfish is EATING my feather duster... it just recently started growing back it's crown, what should I do? Somehow the featherduster, who used to be at a 45 degree angle, is on the ground with a CHoclate Chip starfish on top! I fed my starfish a lot 2 days ago, too. Was my featherduster dead? What is this???
THanks

Chocolate Chip stars are carnivores they will eat inverts and corals. I would not recommend one in a tank wit inverts and corals. They are very voracious eaters. HTH

From what I've read, chocolate chip starfish is not reef safe. They are carnivores. I proved this was true when I saw my choc starfish on top of my derasa clam and the clam was paralyzed and not shutting even when I removed the choc. I thought it was dead, but it took several hours for it to come back and begin moving. Needless to say the choc was history. <img src="graemlins//mischievous.gif" border="0" alt="[Mischievous]" />

throw in a Harlequin shrimp. he will take care of that! just kidding. Choc stars are very hungery little critters i would never have one in a reef tank! Harlequin shrimp only eat them so while yes the star would be dead, you would lose the shrimp after a bit cause that is all they eat. they sure do look cool though

Um, thanks for all of your help. But why did the starfish suddenly attack, after a month? Do you think my feather duster was already dead? Thanks
