Oh No!! I don't think my sand bed is thick enough

I measured it and it is just a hair under 4 inches. I really, really do not want to add more sand to the tank especially since I have added about 40 lbs of rock.
Do you think I will still get the affects of a deep sand bed?

Well - my DSB is only 2 inches right now - I plan on adding enough to get me closer to 4 inches but this is an approximation not a complete requirement. If you don't have a large number of borrowing animals - close to 4" shouild be fine. at least for a while anyway. Plus you could just build the LS around your existing LR to a higher level if needed - not much should be going on under your rock anyway.

almost 4 inches shouyld be fine, esp. if it is fine grained
, some experts say 3 to 4, others say 3.5 to 4, and others say that 4 to 6 is the way to go, even thos with varied opinions all agree that some is better than none, and more is better than less, but almost 4 inches as mentioned should be fine, remember that this is not a science, yet so far this hobby is all based on trial and error
however, if you do decide to add more, i would not put it under the rock, my sock is on the glass and the sand is around the rock
