i might lose power soon. there was just a flicker of powerloss. if i do lose power for an extended piriod of time, can i take small ammounts of tank water and heat them up on the stovetop to keep the temp regulated?? my tank will cool fast without heating cuz its only a 30 gallon. also will this work with my 2.5 nano?

Geez how cold is it there? Im in teeshirt and shorts here still....
I wouldn't worry about it unless it is out for longer than 3 hours.... I would definitely try NOT to boil your water. If you have a computer backup then try using that to run just your heater.

Definately don't put boiling water into your tank! You're be fine, if you can pick up some battery operated airstones in the future. Also if your temp does drop more than a few degrees. Lower your heater set point so that it won't immediate spike back up, or atleast thats what I do. Than gradually raise it back to normal over a few days.

hmmm i didnt mean boil it. i meant heat it up enough to keep the heat regulated. the storm is almost over now so i am guessing i am in the clear (knock on wood).

Iwht your nano - just cover it with a thick blanket to help hold in the heat. Just make sure that it doesn't touch the water and make sure you will be tehre when the power comes back so it doesn't overheat.
