I just bought this false percula and it is probably one of the most brilliant colored ones i have seen in a long time. My only problem is he wont eat. I dont want him to die. I have tried pellets, soaking frozen mysis shrimp in garlic elixr, i have even tried live brine. He did not even try and eat one of the live brine. He looks totally fine no ich spots, no bacterial infection. THe only thing i can think of is that he might be upset from being bought not as a group. He keeps swimming up and down the glass as if he is looking at his reflection. So what am i to do? How long should it go before i really worry.

Swimming up and down the glass is a sign of a new clownfish. How long have you had him?

What have you tried? I don't think there is a reason to worry too much yet. Just keep switching up the food and maybe try soaking some in garlic.

when i introduced a clown into my tank he wouldn't eat either and i tried all kinds of food but one day when i was feeding my anemone thawed uncooked shrimp i bought from the grocery store, the clown started attacking it while i was trying to feed it to the amenone. now he will eat almost anything(flake food, brine shrimp, uncooked shrimp ect.) you just have to keep trying to find something he likes. you might even ask the Lfs what they feed their clowns...hope that helps, good luck

I bought two clowns ( both small ie under 2 inches) a week ago. Both were eating blood worms the first day, both sorta ate flake food the second day, then both third and fourth day ate frozen plankton (sp?). Day 5 and Day 6 only one clown ate, the other didn't eat anything ( however it went to each piece of food and checked it out, but never bit). Its now day 7 and the little guys movement has slowed down. Now he is just staying in one corner, slowly moving from the top of the water to the bottom, never getting more than 3 inches from the glass.(kinda hiding behind the heater).
I'm halfway thinking that he is hiding from the other clown ( but the other clown doesn't seem to pick on him). No bite marks on fins.No spots, nothing abnormal other than not eating and not moving much.
Salt -> 1.024
PH -> 8.2 - 8.4
Amon->0
Nirtites->0
Nitrates ->10-15
Temp ->78-79F
No other fish in tank, couple of hermits ( 30 gal tank).
I'm not over feeding, (only enough on the floor for the crabs to eat, food consumed within 5-6 minutes).
Any Ideas? I've read that new clowns move alot. So does that mean that once clowns get used to the tank they slow down? The clown looks fine, breathing normal ( not faster or slower than the other guy ). I've alway heard to ask your LPS to feed the fish before buying it, so thats whats got may attention that somethings wrong.
Thanks
