OK since im new i baught a 55 gal, but now im getting a deal for 1200 for a 90 gal with a sump and MH lights its really nice. Im kind of tight for space but i can fit the 90 gal. What do you guys think? Keep the 55 or go with teh 90 while i can get it. CAuse the guy is allowing me to trade in my 55 set up for some cash towards it. IM not sure what to do. Thanks

1200 seems a lot to me but I don't know prices on MH lights. I have paid about 1400 total for a 60 gallon acrylic setup with a sump, skimmer, stand, canopy, pumps, lr, ph's, t5 lights, and all the small odds and ends.

If you really want a larger tank, my suggestion would be to go to a famous site that begins with an e and rhymes with day. I was just on there today and there are several people on there who are selling complete set ups fish, corals, and all for about that price. There are a lot of great deals out there, even on this site in the classified section. I would go for it if I could talk my husband into it!
By the way, I am all for bigger tanks, but I have a 90 and I find that I am still very limited as to what I can have in the tank. I don't think that there is a difference between a 55 and a 90 as far as stock is concerned. No tangs, no angels, limited wrasse, you get the idea. If I was going to go bigger I would go 100+ but thats just me.
Sorry, didn't mean to be a buzz kill. If you love the tank, than go for it.

The reason I think it sould like a good deal is because of the MH lighting. Most tanks don't come with that for a good price.

I would go bigger as I just did!! I just went from a 55 to a 180!!
But as a comparison, I paid $500.00 for the 180 with stand, plumbing, 3 return pumps, Oceanic Model 3 Sump & 2 Vortex Powerheads. If you hang out on this site and other sites long enough.....you can find some really good deals!!

Well it wasn't exactly on this site, but I have seen some other real good deals on here. It was a site that alot of people hate that begins with a c....but there are a ton of other sites you should continually look at!!

i generally do not pay more than half of what something costs new. if youre talking upgrade and have 1200 then do it, but a much better deal will come along. i paid 300 for a 120 and stand with overflow. i also got a rena xp1 which is over 100 new. i didnt use it on the tank but i have one and could sell it or use it on another tank. if i had 1200 and was going to spend it on a tank it would be well over 200 gallons or id just keep my money. i see lots of sales on a site that starts with a C for 55 g tanks and they want 180+. you can buy a new full setup no stand at a certain well known store for 150. you do the math

i dont have that kind of money to drop all at once so i dont think its a great deal but im not looking at the setup either.
granted its old, and not the perfect light for my tank i got a 1000 watt metal halide full setup for 50 bucks... in comparison i could have half the light for 5 times the money...
