Ok, like the title states, I have never really fed my coral except pouring marine snow in my tank.
I want to take a step further then this and want to start spot feeding the corals.
I stopped by a friend's house yesterday and he was feeding corals with gut loaded brine cubes with a turkey baster.
I have zoos, palys, torch, hammer, green closed brain and red lobos. Can I feed them the same way with the pumps off? Please share some of your knowledge with me.

I feed my anemones, bubble coral...and brain (when tentacles are out) small pieces of shrimp
I buy

and (H20 life frozen coral food)
http://www.**************.com/images/Categoryimages/thumbnail/th-72465-53095-fish-food.jpg
and add 1 - 2 cubes 1x a week
I also feed these foods daily (H20 life pro variety)

which has food in it for fish and reef

also my brain coral hasn't opened up at all so no sweepers at night... is this normal?

I don;t use a baster ....I use tongs to feed the shrimp...and just broadcast the rest of the food in the tank

Update:
So itried feeding yesterday and had partial success.
Food was getting every where and not much to coral then I found out my problem after I was done and laying down in my bed.
I forgot to turn off the pumps.
Doh.
Will try again tonight.

I laughed when I saw this because my fish don't bother when I'm feeding the coral, but the Scarlett cleaner shrimp does. I only feed my candy cane, I use a syringe loaded with cyclops and squirt a little on them a couple of times a week. When I feed the candy cane, my annoying Scarlett cleaner shrimp rushes over to the coral and begins to clime all over the coral (stealing food).

JFYI....Turn off the skimmer on the day you feed your corals...otherwise you are only feeding the skimmer. It take all day for a filter feeder to feed, so unless you are feeding a chunk of shrimp, turn it off.

LOL...When I first set up my SW tank, I was told to only run the skimmer for a day about once a month. I never had any issues. I just run the skimmer 24/7 now because I'm lazy...If I feed the coral I turn it off. If you forget to turn it back on...for a month...no harm done.
Oh one piece of advice..from Acrylic51.....don't use the knob on the skimmer that already has a sweet spot where it skims as it should, instead just unplug the unit, and when you plug it back in, it's already set and you won't have to putz with it.
Happy reefing!

I'm still learning every day. Like you my peppermint shrimps attack my baster and my hand and the coral that the mysis is on.
