After reading alot on here i know you get this all the time, i used search till my eyes were buggy and i just need some opinions to ease my mind...i recently bought a 55 gallon setup from a friends friend that was moving and could take it with him...just jumping in without knowing anything, not the best thing i realize now....this is what i got in the deal....
-55 gal tank
-florescent lighting 1 tube
-few pieces of LR
-CC on the bottom
-homemade stand
-29 gallon sump with wet/dry
-heaters
-and a foxface and some fish i can't identify
NOW THAT I KNOW A LITTLE...lol this is what i want to do...
-REEF SETUP
-Buying new stand and canopy
-Just got a 48" JBJ retrofit power compact, 260 watt output
-Switching to DSB
-Want about 60lbs ??? of liverock
-Ditching the fish since foxfaces aren't reef safe, and i have no -idea what the other one is...
These are my q's
-Should i ditch the wet/dry and just go with LR, LS, and a skimmer??
-How much LR and LS???
-And what skimmer? i've been looking at the bakpak2
I'll let my tank recycle, and then add some other stuff later, a cleanup crew first, then maybe a few fish...
I'm open to any input/suggestions you have....thanks for readying this long post!
BEWARE! more questions may follow later!

hello i own a bac pac2 and i love it its low maintenance, and works great but one suggestion i have learned about the bac pac dont let your water level get too low or you will have an overflow.

Who said foxface's weren't reef safe? - rabbitfish make great reef fish - extremely hardy and less prone to ich than tangs...
