OK Question

Ok I got a 72 gallon bowfront with 100 pounds of live rock canister filter and a protien skimmer. I was talking to a friend about a Refugium and I was wondering if this would be good for my tank? I really don't know anything about them. Do they HOB or do I have to do some crazy plumbing? Can it maybe go under my tank in the stand?

IMO, a refugium is a good idea for any type of tank. It can be stocked with macroalgae for nutrient export, or a deep sand bed for nitrate lowering, or can be a pod generating plant, etc. There are lots of fuge plans in the DIY forum, and many people (including me) have used the CPR HOB fuge. It is easy to install and use, with no complex plumbing.
