no fish!!!! I have a CBS, emerald crab, brittle star, blue leg hermits, those for now are the only things in the tank mobile, I do have lots of mysis shrimp, Isopods and of course bristle worms, I have notice also a funky cockroach looking thing that runs on its side hanging around that colony of yellow polyps that went from about 50 strong to less than 20 damn bugs....lol ohh by the way those cockroach looking things I do believe I have seen them frezzed dried and sold as fish food.

I thought those hermits were suppose to be reef safe... I do know they have killed 2 of my turbo snails and moved in but I have yet to catch them messing with the yellow polyps

well IMO, anyone putting blue-legged hermits (dwarf or not) into a reef system is asking for it. THEY ARE NOT COMPLETELY REEF SAFE IME! Throw them all out and intrude emerald crabs in their place.

ReefnJeff, I think you have the two mixed up. :) Blue-legs are the ones with the bad reputation. Scarlet Red Hermits are the ones that walk on water.
I am not sure which one it is. IMO, it is between your hermits and brittle star. I would cautiously side with Rick though on the hermits.
EDIT: ooops, I just realized you are talking about yellow polyps and not green star polyps. I would then side totally with Rick on the hermits.
Cheers,

If you have a large bristle worm, it could be the guilty party. Also, when yellow polyps die, the just kinda disappear IME. Not sure if they crawl off and die or if they just melt. Lastnight my small brittle star was all puffed-up like he had just eaten a large meal, but I haven't added any food for a week... I'm really curious as to what he was eating!

I just checked my yellow polyps and those bug things were at the base of a few closed polyps and I'm sure curious as to what they are doing, I think they are eating the polyps

HELP!!!!!! checked the yellow polyps this morning OOHHH MYYYYY god!!! 9 left when the lights went on the bugs scattered and aslo I had one of my sea matt colonies moved by the emerald crab of course, when I picked it up to replace it there must have been about 20 of these bugs underneath it and they were falling out of the colony by the dozens. Look for my repost regarding this subject with more info.

I put a bristle worm trap by the yellow polyps and baited it with raw shrimp and I caught 2 worms and about 15 of these bugs

I'm not kidding, or mean to seem hostile, but your pics could mean a lot.
Save animals even.

They sound like normal copepods to me. And the more I am thinking about it, the more I am thinking they are not what is eating your polyps. But only time will tell, so keep us informed. :)
