I have a 33 gal.
1.24 salinity
my calcium is at 460-480
I had a red slime algea problem but I have gotten rid of it a week ago (still some left)
I have 4 floresant bulbs (2 x marine-glo 2x power-glo) and 2 50/50 bulbs (froma small tank)
a Yellow tang, a manderian goby and a perc. clown
Does anyone have addvice or knowledge?

what are the rest of your levels at? alk? mag? trates? phosphates? also, what's the wattage on those lights and the kelvin rating? i can't really tell by the pic what's wrong with it.... what supplements do you use?

I honestly cant say what happened, but I thought I read about another member having the same problem (not too long ago). Hopefully this will bump you for that member to see and tell you what has happened since. All I can remember from the post was leave the skeleton, it may produce babies. Not 100% sure it was a brain (80%), but maybe that will jar others memory also. I am still not understanding all the bulbs, so what did you do for your red slime--could that be the problem? Bump for ya.

I know elegance corals will do the same thing if stressed. They often die after but have been known to regrow the base.
This is mabe the same behavior?

check your ph, if you treated for the red slime it may have affected the brain. Thats probably what happened.

how long have you had the brain? lights sound like normal output. better put your fire-proof gear on because the flames WILL start coming with a tang in a 33. either ph crash as was mentioned or lighting finally caught up to it. what did you do for your slime outbreak?
