I was looking at some old pics of my tank and I noticed that the coraline algae looks alot different than it use to. It use to be smooth and bright purple and now it's kinda bubbly and pourous.
Is it dying or does it do that with age? I have spots of new growth that are smooth and bright purple on the walls and rocks, but the stuff that grew last year looks different.
Should I be concerned?
pic of last year

pic now. See how the purple has changed color and texture? it's the same corner.

My calcium level is a little over 400 (I know thats a little low, but I can't seem to raise it). I changed my lights last year at the yearly maintence and I went from 2 24watt to I think 2 32 watt. I don;t know they were a little longer and higher watt.
I'll be changing my lights again for another yearly maintenence this month.
Could it be my lights? And oh yea, about 4 months ago my moon lights (LED) cord got pulled out of the back and those haven't worked since, but everyone said that wouldn't matter.
