My tank is 3 yrs old. I change my lights every year and they are 32 watt Dual Sunpaq something. I can never remember. I have a white one and a blue one and they are both 32 watt. (each) I think that answers your lighting question. if not I can look it up.
I have seen some really pretty favia, but not sure if I can keep them.

You conditons seem to be right for them. I would place it modertate from tob of the tank.

brain corals have no preference, open ones need sand, but favias and what not will do fine in either. i guess whatever looks best!
