How do I know if they are getting enough food or too much food? I have been feeding KENT Phytoplex and the Chromsomething. I alternate the 2 and feed 3x a week. How will I know if this is enough or too much?

You'll know it's to much if your phosphates and nitrates spike... what kind of corals do you have??

I have a yellow polyp (base ball size), 2 star polyps( 2" cutting and a 4" cutting), a sun coral (base ball size) and a toadstool (about 3" high). I think thats it.
The sun coral I spot feed 3x a week so I'm not concerned about that one, but the others I don't know if they're getting enough or how to tell if they're getting enough.

I used to use varous coral foods and most times IMHO it was a waste of time and money. Phyto etc does nothting but add junk in the water. Just read the labels and it will tell you its not live organisims that critters are looking for. The way goods are shipped and stored and handled its risky thinking anyhting is going to be stored and shipped in the required range of conditions needed for it to be suuitable. I feed my shrooms, polyps etc pelleted feed by spot feeding with a device I made, 3 to 4 times a week, same for sun corals, use spot feed of pelleted feed or locally prepared frozen food etc, and all else gets what they require from water changes and minut particles in the water after /during regular feeding of fish with frozen foods etc....they all do so much better without adding those liquid supplemental feeds.

Anyone use oyster eggs? I bought some yesterday and thought it might be worth a try. The directions suggest turing the skimmer off for a few hours but says nothing about taking the filter media out which is why I bought it. I do enjoy feeding the fungia and candy cane mysis shrimp. Should I also feed my bubble. It seems to be doing really well and I have never spot fed it. On a side note, my feather duster caught a big piece of mysis last night and pulled it into it's tube. He should be good for awhile!

Do a search on this site for "coral food". You should find some "recipes" for making your own. It's easy, a lot cheaper and more beneficial.
