My tank is 3 1/2 years old, it's a 12 gal. and my clown fish is about a year old. I was debating switching my toadstool because it has gotten soooo big it's all you can see. Just when I decide to switch it for a smaller one my clown decides to move in.
Has he bonded with THIS particular coral? Will he get mad if I switch it for a smaller one?

He has claimed the coral yes. But if you remove it he will just look for something else. No worries...he wont get "mad"
