On its way...

Hi I have a Percula Clowns that just recently lost its appetite and is very slow and listless in the tank. He was originally in the tank w/ a tomato clown and within the past two days the tomato died. It seemed to have a greyish powder on its side but it wasn't distinct like Ich. Also while the fish was dying, he had trouble keeping bouancy, often falling to the bottom of the tank while struggling to regain a level postion. The percula shows no visible signs of infection expcept for the fact that breathing is beginnnig to pick up. We tested the water and found that nitrates were nearly off the wall and then put the clown in a tank w/ perfect water quailty. But he still lies in the corner of the tank sometimes falling on his side, struggling to stay up and won't eat. Does anyone know what I can do to save him or is it too late?

How long ago did you move him. The fish is stressed and initially they will fall to the bottom. turn the lights off for a few hours or even for the night. if the water conditions are "perfect" than the fish should recover. as far as the signs you described (i am no pro) I think the high nitrates could cause that.
