? on my cycle

I started my cycle in my 6 gal on Friday using some pieces of dead frozen fish. A couple people told me it would cycle on it's own and I could take out the pieces, so I did.
When I cycled my 12 gal 3 yrs ago I remember the levels went waaaaay up, the amonia was off the chart. (I used a raw shrimp from deli to cycle). But heres the reading for my 6 gal.
day 2
(took out fish pieces)
PH- 7.8
trites- 0
trates-0
amonia- .5
temp 79
salinity- 24 (last 2 #s)
day 3 my tank leaked and moved water, LR and LS into old tank w/heater and pump
day 4

PH-7.8
trites-0
trates-10
amonia-.25
temp 79
salinity-25
day 5

PH-7.8
trites-0
trates-10
amonia-0
temp 79
salinity-26
My levels are going down already, but I don't think they spiked high enough yet. Would it cycle better with the raw shrimp?

yea, but now I got nothing in there. Don't I have to feed bacteria or something like that for the whole cycle to begin?
I'm thinking there's not enough die off or what ever. I used cured rock and that "instant cycled LS" (which is a joke. It actually says no need to cycle and that you can add fish right away. And then people wonder why their fish die.
)
Anyway, I don't know. It doesn't seem to have enough dead stuff in there to make it cycle.
I should be getting my replacement tank tomorrow. Maybe when I switch everything back over, and IF it doesn't leak again, maybe I'll throw a shrimp in there and start from scratch.
