? on spot feeding

I recently bought some candy cane corals and was told they are filter feeders, but do better with spot feedings 2x a week. I couldn't find any cyclopeeze, so I bought phytoplancton stuff.
My ? is, if I get more than one coral that needs to be spot fed, will my nitrates & nitrites spike? I noticed when I fed the candy canes the other day that most of it was going all around the tank. I'm sure it's good for all my corals, but if I spot feed 1 coral and then another, it seems my tank will be too full food.

i personally take the total amount of food that i am gonna feed either my corals or tank with , throw it in a cup, add some tank water, syringe it up or turkey baster and feed my corals first, then the rest of the tank gets the leftovers....i feed my cc's with formula one and mysis shrimp

the formula 1 is it frozen? The cc's take the mysis shrimp good cause I just squirt it on their tenticles, but the phytoplancton stuff is just like thick water and it floats right past them. Maybe I will only use the phyto stuff once in a while. It said it was good for all types of coral, but I'm afraid my levels are going to go up. I just got them to 0.
