I have see alot of post that talk about something called Purigen and Chemi Pure or Chemi Pure Elite, How can this be used in a HOB Power filter and can the be used together and which one would be best the regular Chemi Pure or the elite? And do you who use it notice a difference, this would be for a 12g w/ fish and soft corals.
What are these products ment to do also?
Thank

Seachem Purigen
* Chemical filter media for fresh and saltwater aquariums
* Effectively removes protein and other organic aquarium pollutants
* Regenerate Purigen chemical filter media for extended aquarium use
Premium synthetic adsorbent removes soluble and insoluble aquarium impurities. Purigen is a macro-porous, synthetic polymer that removes proteins and a broad spectrum of organics at a rate and capacity that exceeds all other chemical filter media by over 500%. Controls ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, by removing nitrogenous organic waste materials. Seachem Purigen also significantly raises redox to improve aquarium water quality and clarity.
Exhaustion is indicated by discoloration, and it can be regenerated easily. For marine and freshwater aquariums. 100 ml treats up to 100 gallons, for up to 6 months.
Chemi-Pure
* Multi-purpose chemical filter media removes dissolved organics and more
* Enjoy sparkling water and maintain a perfect pH in any aquarium
* Long-lasting chemical filter media reduces aquarium maintenance
Your fish will live a healthier life - up to 4 times longer. Works equally well in marine or freshwater aquariums to remove heavy metals, copper, phenol, ammonia, and other nitrogenous waste. Helps keep pH at a consistently safe range and your water sparkling clear. Fantastic for use with African Cichlids and Discus. Chemi-Pure Elite adds ferric oxide to the original Chemi-Pure formula to also remove phosphates and silicates, making it the only complete choice for filtering any kind of aquarium. Each pre-bagged 5 oz Chemi-Pure or Chemi-Pure Elite treats up to 20 gallons; 10 oz Chemi-Pure or 11.74 oz Chemi-Pure Elite unit treats up to 40 gallons. Each extra large 40 oz Grande or 46.96 Grande Elite nylon bags treat 175-200 gallons. Remains active 4-6 months.

Thanks you guys
I just placed my order
I saw the Chemi Pure Elite is in a nylon bag I ordered the 5oz, now is that just one bag in the container and it is good for 4-6 months? It says for a 40g, mine is a 12g will that size bag be ok or will it be to much for my little 12g?
Same formulation as the original Chemi-Pure, with the addition of ferric oxide to remove phosphates and red slime (cyano-bacteria). Promotes aerobic bacterial growth while removing dissolved organics. Use 1 unit for 40 gallons, 2 units for 100 gallons and 1 extra unit for every additional 25 gallons. Each unit lasts 4-6 months. 1 unit equals 11.74 oz.
and the Purigen is not in a bag so I ordered the Seachem "The Bag" is that what you all use?

well since i took out the CPE. I added some algae to one of the water returns in the back of the tank. trying to create a mini refugium.. so right now I have, 2 hand fulls of algae, with a light on the back of the tank, the protein skimmer, the purigen. and seems to be working real well.. I just did a water change yesterday after a weekend out of town.. so I will keep you posted..
I lost my clam ( i think my pepermint shrimp was nibbling on it which killed it)

i currently use both. i used to just run chemipure elite and that worked fine. since i added the purigen, i havent really notice too much of a difference, not sure if ill use it again, not that its bad, i think the chemipure was working fine on its own.
