One-Eyed Coral Beauty

Today my dad stopped by the lfs and while browsing he spotted a coral beauty with beautiful color and great behavior. Upon further examination, he recognized that the fish had only 1 eye. According to the guy at the store, thats how the fish came and I don't know whether its a birth defect or an injury. My dad said it has great color and it swims and behaves perfectly fine. The only concern that I have is that will buying this fish come back to haunt me? He's only $15(half price for the one eye) but I'm just worried about infection and if it will survive in my 40 gallon f/o tank. So should I give it a shot or stay away from it? Thanx in advance

It can do very well with one eye. I have 3 fish with a bad eye each and they are fine and able to function quite well. One Damsel lost his eye (how I can only guess he po'd the Trigger in his tank), one Rock Beauty Angel who went blind after a bout with Ick and popeye, and a stars and stripes Puffer baby who I bought not realizing it was blind in its left eye. Anyway if the fish is what you want and you can live with its eye loss then there is no reason not to get it. I have read that a fish even fully blind is able to function ok if not attacked by other fish.
