One of the reasons I love this hobby

My kids are fascinated by both of the tanks in our home. My son knows the scientific names of more of my fish than I do!

rich, nice pic. When into my tank like that, my huma huma spit sand at my face, lol. Your son must be very smart, only scientific name i really know is Ocellaris Perucla. Kinda off topic, but how is the 110 doing?

It's coming along! I am really hating the "Attack of the Brown Algae" phase though.
Bad thing is because it will be an agressive with a huma, keeping any kind of a critter crew for clean up will be impossible. So that brings me to three questions since you have a huma.
1. Did you go through the brown alage? (I seriously don't remember this in my 75 gallon)
2. How did you control it?
3. What do you use for a clean up crew?

I know what you mean.....this is our friends kids, and for some reason....I have kept the photo for about three years now......something about kids and the way they look at it all.:)

Sammy! Where did you get that tiny little starfish?! Jeez, you can barely see it in the tank! :D
Melody, she has her mothers curls...but my attitude! I would absolutely love for either or both of my kids to share even 1/10th my enthusiasm about our oceans

1 - Well, i bought my tank, the water in it is 6+years old, so, i didnt witness the brown algae stage. As for my 29gal, just finished cycle a two weeks ago, and the brown algae has just arrived.
2 - Well i wasnt prepared for this "boom" of brown algae, since i am fairly new too saltwater. But im thinking about buying a clean up crewf from swf.com
3 - Cant awnser it
How is your juv. emperor? I saw the pic you posted, and he looked pretty nice.

It is a general starfish I had awhile back, but I don't have anymore.....bacterial infection I believe. He was a big boy at over a foot wide.

that's cool, but serpents are far different....not even true starfish. rich1515, sorry, I didn't mean for my starfish to jack the thread....just wanted to follow suit and show how kids are amazed by the sea.

Not at all!! I thought it was pretty darn funny.
KRUNK, the emperator is doing great! I got pretty lucky when I got it. My LFS got her in about three months ago. I still only had my 75 reef at the time so there was no way to obtain her. A friend of mine bought it and he wound up overstocked and gave her back to the LFS. When she came back, the owner called me and let me know that she was back, which just happened to be at the end of my cycle for the 110 FO that I got inbetween that point. So I knew that she was a pretty good bet for being healthy and she hasn't let me down! She is getting huge!

Hey Vibe!
Great choice on the Emp. He is awesome! Lion goes in next. My LFS has him already and she is getting him to take frozen food and when that happens...BRINGING HIM HOME! Have a good one.
