I was told that what I thought was ich on my damsels is probably lymphasites. It looks like fresh water ich. Whats the diff??
O yeah and whats the diff between live sand and not live sand??

Anyway, why don't you decribe in detail what the symptoms are of your fish.

Symptoms are tiny white spots on a few of my damsels. I just put the tank together. It is 55 gal. with approx 4 in. sand bed. (I am assuming DS but I dont know the diff between LS and DS) I have 2 lbs live rock but plan on adding more as time goes by (and money comes in)

The white spots are on the fins and tails mostly. The fish seem to be fine however.

Hi:
Sounds like ich, lymphocystis looks like little warty cauliflowers heads.
Can you describe what the white dots look like?
raised, lumpy, flat, cottony, etc.
if its ich this condition should get worse before it gets better, what the current status?

live sand and not live sand-> live sand has life in it (like bacteria, sand fauna worm, etc, pods, etc), not live sand is fresh out of the bag. Its got NO life in it.
