Im starting a tank again after 2 years out.I dont live by my fish supplier anymore. I was wondering if online orders are ok,if the fish are in good health, etc..... Just wondering if its worth it. I would appreciate any feed back on this before I dive in again.Thanks <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

I've had good luck ordering from here and another place.
Upsides:
  • Its cheaper, even w/ shipping than my nearby LFS(s).
  • They almost all guarantee the fish for a week.
    Downsides:
    • For fish that can have varying personalities, you can't see how they act first.
    • If you get a DOA, you have to pay shippping on the replacement. However, you don't have to do it right away, so you can wait until you're ready for another order.
    Suggestions:
  • Tell them to call or email before any size substitutions or partial orders.
    I once ordered a small wrasse and got a 9" 'free upgrade' when I really wanted the smaller fish.
    Some places will ship a partial order - personally, I'd rather wait a few weeks until they have everything in, 'cause you have to pay shipping again if you re-order the rest.
    Even if you order one fish, you can always add more to your cleanup crew to make up for the freight: SWF sells 10 snails for $4.99, and my LFS sells then for $3.50 each.
My thoughts are that most clowns, gobies, wrasses and dwarf angels are great for online ordering. On the other hand, a Foxface (some can be very timid) or perc and maroon clowns (can be VERY agressive) I want to see them interact with tankmates first.

i've ordered here...i've been very impressed...i got my money back on items that died and they were very profesional. I highly recomend swf.com. I have not ordered from other sites but I am considering it only because I've found cheaper items elsewhere. I do not believe that swf.com will match prices of their competitors...therefore I say shop around for what you want... a lot of times swf.com is the cheapest. The things that I just ordered were cheaper elsewhere. However, I'd rather have ordered from swf.com because I know that they are good and honest.
