Open brain slow death

I think that my open brain is slowly dying before me, everyday a little more of his skeleton is exposed. The thing that puzzles me is how healthy the living part looks, very vibrant color and has that snotty look to it. Is there anything I can do to reverse this process, water quality is good and we add reef complete and reef calcium twice weekly. Everything else in the tank is doing very well.

I am having the same results out of my second open brain... :( For some reason I just can't keep them. They slowly dwindle away in about a years time, just as yours... :(

Check your nitrate levels. Flesh corals such as brains can not take an elevated level in nitrates. I had the same problem with mine and once nitrates under control it slowly started to grow back.
Also, if you have it in too much flow or to littl light it will also cause problems. Too much flow and the tissue will not open fully to get all the light it needs.

Hey Wamp,
The only thing that matches for me may be the Nitrates.. We'll see. I just recently switched to a RDP DSB Refugium, and Nitrates are slowly falling. They've never been over 10ppm though. Oh well, I hope this one pulls through OK. If not, No More for me... ;)
