Our black powder ends this weekend. I have been trying to get close enough with a REAL high rack buck. I'm now obsessed with this deer. I took a large doe opening day of bow. One week break between black powder and rifle season Then I am gonna wipe out the does. Ha!

it's not fair. you people get to have all the fun, while I'm stuck watching herds of deer cross my front lawn in Fascist New Jersey.

A buddy of mine gave me some Bear meat, thought it was kind of greasy. I like Elk and Deer the best. Thinking about a 7MM Rem Mag?

Phixer, 7mm is a great round.
Tx, my nephew just stopped by. He harvested an 8 pointer 160 class weighed in 177 lbs. field dressed. Zero deductions. I am going in the am since I do not have to work.

My dads' side of the family lives in Doverell (10 miles outside of Dawson), Georgia which is about 20 miles away from Albany. The deer ou there are huge. I take my vacation in April and go out there for a week. I wish I could go during rifle season so I could get one of those huge Georgia bucks.
This year, I will either be shooting my 300 Weatherby Magnum or my Browning Medallion 25-06 Boss.
I am leaning towards the 25-06 because of accuracy, but with the 300 you could shoot a deer in the foot and still kill it.. :hilarious

Rifle season opened here two weeks ago. My 11 yr old took his first deer, a medium sized doe on the 2nd day of the season. Trying to find time now to go to the processor and pick it up.

Well, I went this morning and saw a total of 27 deer. 6 bucks with 1 really close. My stand creaked as I was moving into a shooting position and he ran.
If the does still have their yearlings at this time, I shoot the does anyway. As soon as they come into estrus they will kick their young ones away anyway. We can leagaly kill 7 deer here in Okla. 1 Buck, 1 doe in each weapon, bow, muzzle loader and rifle. Then there is a bonus doe weekend before and after Christmas just to help thin them out.

Limit here is 12 total. Only 2 bucks and 1 must be 4 points or better on 1 side. The counties where I hunt are either --- days everyday of the season 10/21 - 1/01. Insurance lobbies are really trying to thin the herd. Problem is the land is being developed so fast that the deer don't have time to move. they just stay put in whatever small cover they can find and adapt to city life. I see them around our subdivision all the time. Had three in my neighbors front yard just the other day.

We go to a ranch down by Laredo. That was my biggest hog so far weighing in at 180. We use red lights at night, sit out in the desert with the rattle snakes
