Operation PIMP MY SHELL

I must be bored, I need a hobby.
So I was looking in my tank and thought of all the underpriveleged hermit crabs who had to walk the oceans of the world with drab colored shells, and thought to myself " I will do my part to help out atleast one unfortunate hermie". So I grabbed an empty shell and my dremel tool and went to work with some sanding disks.

15 minutes later, Whalla!
The next step was to place it in what my daughter likes to call the "used shell lot". I have one on each side of my tank.

30 minutes later, a lucky juvenile hermie approached and decided to make it his new home!

So there it is, another disadvantaged hermie has been given a chance to shine.
DISCLAIMER: No Hermit Crabs were hurt in the making of this project. Only sanding discs were used, no buffing compounds. Shell was polished with a brand new cotton cloth.

A neat idea and this brings a question to mind - do you have to do anything special to an empty shell to add it to my tank. I have some hermits that will no doubt be outgrowing their shells and not sure what to do about it??

Look under "miscellaneous" at this site's store. Empty hermit shells are available.

LOL..Yep plenty bored, but that distraction from boredom is what our tanks are for...Are you planning on doing others, maybe paint one?

I wasn't planning on it. It was just an impulse thing. As far as paint I wouldn't even try to figure out if anything is safe for the tank.
